Secrets of the Banyan

This is Maureen's debut novel (fiction)

You will read about women's resilience, experiencing a different way of life in the Top End, and its health system, the beautiful Daly River, abundant bird life and of course the mysterious Banyan tree.

You will meet Stella who is feeling the loss of her youth, her marriage, her sexuality, and the relationship with her adult children. When the threat of also losing her career loom, she flees to the Northern Territory to visit her daughter, where she is faced with new challenges.

Darwin is where she was adopted at birth, and when her search for some trace of her biological parents is unfruitful, she acutely feels a loss of identity. To please her daughter, they travel together to the Daly River region where she experiences the extreme environment and challenging people. It is there, however, through her experiences with nature that she is enabled to look at life with new eyes and confront her fears, find renewed courage and a whole lot more.
